Too Many of the Same Model

I had planned on fasting for little Coleman, the brain tumor boy and his family today, but by the time today rolled around I had already learned of another little twin, Tuesday being diagnosed with a stage IV medulloblastoma as well. Then Friday I found out that a friend and neighbor of mine was taken to the ER the day before, they thought maybe she had suffered a stroke. Then I tried to hunt someone down to find out what was happening, and could only contact her Tagalog speaking mother-in-law from whom I ascertained she was in surgery- on her head, and that she couldn't move her leg. When I finally tracked her down at the hospital, she had just come out of surgery. Once they got her settled into the ICU, I was able to speak to her daughter and found out she had a tumor the size of a tennis ball removed from the left side of the brain. She is recovering well, but I have been just sick about the trauma for her and her family and what might come back from pathology this week. Every thing we do to help seems like so little. So, we added her to the list today. It was a good fast and I feel more peaceful tonight. Hopefully, things will turn out better than we expect. Coleman's family has found a treatment for him, thank goodness. So, here's to hoping it will work.
Maybe next Sunday I'll have some brain cells free for a story again. In the flurry to cram another two months of stuff we planned to do this summer into the two weeks that are left before school starts, I just might drop in on a few of you all and see how you're doing or record a thought or two.

My father died of Glioblastoma Multiforme (an aggressive brain tumor) 7 years ago and it still pains me to hear of anyone else suffering from brain cancer. I hope everyone you know who is fighting this monster is able to beat it.

I'm so sorry to hear about all the health conditions! I hope Coleman's treatment goes well and that your friend and the other child are able to recover well.

Good to hear Coleman has found a treatment. Hope it goes well as well has the recovery and treatment for everyone else.

Two weeks left? We have until Monday when we have to go back to school. As much as I enjoy having everyone home for the summer, I do look forward to getting back on some kind of schedule...I don't know, it seems we get more done when are days are more defined with work and school.

Blessings to your neighbor and her family.
