I'm an Airhead

I know this comes as a shock to you, but it's true.
I'm the dumb blond, except I'm not blond.
This is my first air headed confession. I thought I was blond, but I'm not. It was an easy mistake to make though, because I was blond as a kid. Then as a teenager, I spent a lot of time in the backyard pool getting sun streaked hair. Then you know the 80's were upon us and so I got some perms which seemed to lighten up my hair. Then once the perms wore off I was in Chile, and I was still in the blond category by their standards. So I would still be under the delusion that I was blond if hair color hadn't come up one day and my mom insisted I was not blond. I had to go look in the mirror and analyze my hair by American standards. Sure enough, I had light brown, but definitely brown hair.
The nice thing about this is I'm also not dumb. That's because I KNOW I'm an airhead. I get as big a laugh or bigger out of all my airheadedness. It's terrible to watch yourself slowly lose your mind but it's also hilarious.
Now, with that confession off my chest, I will tell you a story about how airheaded I am. A friend of mine sent me an e-mail inviting me to her My Space place. Well, I discovered if I wanted to see everything, I needed to sign up too, so I did and added on my friend. Then I look and I've got 2 friends in my friends list! My original friend and some guy named Tom that was on her list. So, I'm thinking, great, my husband is going to think I'm making friends with guys on the internet. My daughter walks up and asks what I'm doing and I explain, but that I don't know how this Tom guy tagged on so fast without my permission. She rolls her eyes. (A talent of hers) and says, "Mom, EVERYBODY has Tom for a friend, he's the My Space guy!" Oh, yeah. It seems I remember reading about him someplace before...
Here's another one. After circling around finding fun bloggers to read and visit with for a few months I kept thinking how odd it was that most everyone had either written a book or wanted to write one. What was the sudden obsession with writing out there? Then finally one day it dawned on me-writing! Blogging involves writing, and people who don't like to write don't like to blog. However people who like to write and hence like to blog, end up doing things like writing books, or magazine articles, or more blogs...DUH!

You are not the first to not realize you were no longer blond. It took me at least two years to realize that you have to go out into the sun if you expect your hair to lighten in the summer.

Uhm, what does it say about me that I DON'T think that either of those are that big of an airhead moment? Guess that makes me an airhead too!

That's funny, but did you know I'm a writer too? Just kidding, only a blogger.

SCIENCE FLASH! Placental tissue is made of brain cells. The more children we have, the (er) "blonder" we become. And listening to 16-year old daughters talk (especially about boys) is pure brain-suck.

This is why you're an airhead, Shellie. And so am I.

(I'm rolling you; hope that's ok!)
