Discoveries

Recently I discovered that the temperature for hard crack is exactly the same temperature that my stirring spoon melts at. Too bad I can't use that knowledge again to make candy, seeing as how candy with plastic swirls in it has to be disposed of more carefully than I did it. This is especially sad for someone who has to replace the candy thermometer every time she makes candy because I never have managed to make 2 batches in a row, so some offspring or another breaks it before the next time rolls around. However, on the upside, if you pour hard crack hot candy down the sink and then try to wash it down with water, it is nowhere near as bad as pouring a can of dried potato flakes down the drain and then trying to wash it down with water. I only needed a husband to fix this mess, NOT Rotor Rooter. And don't get mad at me, You Know Who, they will never know you did it, they will just think I did it instead.
P.S. Self, remember to buy a wooden spoon sometime!
P.S.S. I bet you never knew Voldemort even had a kitchen, did you?

OK, I have done many things in my kitchen (which I affectionately call "cooking") but I have not melted a metal spoon. Yet.

My mother-in-law bought me some wooden spoons last time she was up. Apparently she felt my kitchen lacked some necessary cooking objects. I think she is considering sending my husband relief meals.

Oh no! So funny. I love the potato flakes story. I will have to keep this in mind--it sounds exactly like something I would do.
