Just One More Commercial

Karen tagged me with this meme.

(1) You must post the rules on your blog before you answer the questions.
(2) You need to list one fact about yourself using each letter of your middle name. If you don’t have a middle name use your maiden name instead.
(3) When you are finished with your answers, you tag one person for each letter of your name.

I have to tell a silly story first. I was watching Sweeney Todd with Enigma and her friend. Enigma says, "I don't like the name Joanna." "Me either," says her friend. I just look at them. "Wait, isn't your middle name Jo Ann?" Enigma asks. "Yes," I say. "And isn't that Grandma's name?" She continues. "Yes," I respond. Silence. "But Jo Ann is so much nicer than Joanna, right?" Gales of laughter.

Josephine was my mom' s paternal grandmother. That's where the Jo comes from.
Omniscient. At least I try to convince my kids I am. Maybe Omnivore is more honest.

Abigail Ann was my mom's maternal grandmother. That's where the Ann comes from.
Nutty.
Non-alcoholic. Could you imagine me on booze? Scary. I'd better stick to butter rum lifesavers.

OK, I tag: The Good Flea
Darla,
Gerb,
Cecily,
and Maria.
If you don't like your middle name I give you permission to make one up! You have to tell us it's fictitious is all. AND NOW, BACK TO OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED BLOG!

Tagged again...

Jeannette caught up with me here. These are the questions.

1. What is your occupation? 24/7 mom, part-time interpreter.
2. What color are your socks?
What socks? Bare feet rule!
3. What are you listening to right now? A lot of noise; running, screaming, banging, TV in the background.

4. What was the last thing you ate? Dark Chocolate
5. Can you drive a stick shift? I had to learn when my parents got rid of the automatic. It was so traumatic! There was weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth on my part because I thought manual was impossible. That’s just because I tried to learn on an ancient mustang with lots of quirks. Turns out it wasn’t impossible after all.
6. If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Atomic Tangerine. It has a cool name, I love tangerines and my husband likes that shade so he’d pick me.

7. Last person you were on the phone with? My job. Three hours on the phone with half the universe.
8. Do you like the person that sent this to you?
Yes! She’s fun and faithful and full of wisdom.
9. Favorite Drink?
Cranberry pomegranate juice.
10. What is your favorite sport to watch?
Figure skating. It’s poetry in motion.
11. Have you ever dyed your hair?
Yes, but just boring shades like my own.
12.Pets?
Not now, except a lizard named Coco who keeps looking dead till you try to throw her out. Supposedly, we aren’t allowed to have any more pets till the kids are grown. I think I could write a whole post on the past pets tales. There have been rumblings of pets on the horizon though. Mom, can I have the chick? Can I? Can I?
13. Favorite Food?
Italian food with seafood and something chocolate for dessert.
14. Last movie you watched? Sweeney Todd. Very, very well done but too gory for my taste. Don’t take the kids.
15. Favorite day of the year?
The first day of summer.
16. What do you do to vent anger?
Explode. (Yell) As Enigma’s teacher says, it’s an ugly thing to see an angry midget. But it blows over in a minute. Or talk, talk, talk.
17. What was your favorite toy as a child?
I can barely remember any. Don’t tell my husband, who thinks I buy too many toys. I have a doll I got for Christmas one year that looked like I did. And my aunt crocheted me an elephant that eventually disintegrated. I played with art supplies, really.
18. What is your favorite? Fall or Spring?
Spring because winter is ending. Fall would be even better if it wasn’t followed by winter.

19. Hugs or kisses...Why choose? Both at once.
20. What kind of pie?
Black bottom.
21. Living arrangements?
A split level rectangle with a big yard and black holes and a husband and 5 kids. Things get worn out as fast as Papi can remodel them.

22. When was the last time you cried?
Who me? I’m not crying about how fast our house comes un-glued, my eyes are just watery because of the inversion. Even though my eyes cry on their own I cry when I laugh, am very happy, touched, angry, desperate, whatever!
23. What is on the floor of your closet?
There’s a floor in my closet??? Never seen it. Let me go check….
24. Who is the friend you've had the longest that you are tagging?
The blogger I've known the longest is Amy, who is my sister. She just started blogging! She’s been my friend since she was born.
25. The friend that you have known the shortest amount of time that you are tagging? Lijy. She has the cutest boy.

26. Favorite smell? Chocolate. Seeing a theme here?
27. What inspires you?
The good in people and the amazing things they do. The universe and it’s Maker. And Chocolate.
28. What are you afraid of? Dying before my children are grown up

29. Plain, cheese, or spicy hamburgers?
Not too big on hamburgers, but I’d make sure it had cheese and avocado and bacon.
30. Favorite cat breed?
Siamese, I think they’re slick looking.
31. Number of keys on your key ring?
Uh, like 5.
32. How many years at your current job?
Mom almost 17 years and I’ll never retire. Interpreter 18 years.
33. Favorite day of the week?
Sleep day?

Five US, Canada, Mexico, Peru and Chile

My Dream Tag

So I got tagged again on the 7 random things about me, and since I’m such a nice person, and Cheri is a nice person too, I won’t decline. I’m also going to kill 2 birds with one stone and help out Karen with her 7th tag. I will however change this again so a new tag can go on out there. This time I will change it to:

7 Random Dreams (and why they won’t come true, at least not any time soon. I’ll keep trying to make them come true anyhow.) Here’s the list:

  1. Climb to the top of the Tikal ruins in Guatemala and send a slinky down them. -Because I’m too scared of heights to climb to the top.
  2. Form a family Andean Music Band. –Because A) None of us know how to play any of the instruments involved. (This did not stop DH from buying them anyways) B) Some of us can’t hear that we’re not playing the right note. C) Some of those that CAN hear, don’t WANT to hear so much. D) We have never been able to create anything but chaos as a 7 person ensemble.
  3. Get out of debt. –Because A) Just trying to do this precipitates financial disasters B) We buy things we don’t know how to use. C) We earn less than we used to.
  4. Have a house that doesn’t scream ghetto. -Because A) See #3 and B) I would have to get rid of my family first and then what would be the point?
  5. Go save the Bushmen. You know those great people in The Gods Must Be Crazy? They got kicked off their land because people found out there were things like oil and diamonds on it too. They moved them to a reservation, off their own lands, away from their water sources and sacred burial grounds, and built a bar for them. Now they all need AA and new life skills. It makes me so sad. -Because this one would involve having my own personal Bushmen raised to clothing wearing adulthood first.
  6. Become an overachiever at something I can do well. -Because this would involve giving up the one thing I truly excel at and that is being a consummate underachiever at everything I can do.
  7. Keep my kids from finding out about this boy who tried to build a breeder nuclear reactor in his mom’s shed so they won’t get any ideas. –Actually, I think I can make this dream come true, but they might get ideas anyhow.

If 7 people haven’t committed yet, YOU are it! Tell me you have your post up and I’ll link you right here. C’mon, I know you’ve all got dreams!
